AI / Machine Learning Researcher

The role

We are looking for an applied researcher who is comfortable moving from raw, imperfect data to a tested idea, then to a prototype that can become a real feature. You will explore new approaches, frame hypotheses, run experiments, and work with engineers to bring the strongest results into the Planner 5D product.

The problems sit at the intersection of home design, visual understanding, geometry, 2D and 3D representations, and natural-language interaction.

What you will work on

• Applied AI/ML research for real home-design and spatial-understanding problems.
• Exploration of images, video, text, point clouds, meshes, and other unstructured data.
• Hypothesis generation, modeling, experiments, and rigorous evaluation.
• Prototypes and MVPs that validate ideas before production investment.
• Training and iteration of machine learning and deep learning models.
• AI-driven features, including computer vision systems and AI agents.
• Close collaboration with engineers as research moves toward production.
• Algorithm-level support and adaptation of deployed models as data and requirements change.

What we are looking for

• 4+ years in AI/ML research or applied machine learning.
• Strong foundations in mathematics and computer science: statistics, optimization, linear algebra, and algorithms.
• A solid command of machine learning and deep learning methods.
• Hands-on work with real datasets, from exploration and cleaning through feature extraction and experimental validation.
• Professional Python skills and familiarity with scientific libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or a comparable deep learning framework.
• Familiarity with computer vision or multimodal systems across images, video, or 3D data.
• The ability to independently frame research questions, design experiments, and assess results.
• Strong analytical judgment when working on problems without an established solution.

Useful extra experience

• Processing point clouds, meshes, spatial data, or other 3D representations.
• Building or experimenting with AI agents and LLM-based systems.
• Training and fine-tuning neural networks.
• Geometry, graph theory, or computational geometry.
